Sisterhood

The Sisterhood was established in 1956.  By proposal of the 1st Head of the Sisterhood Liubov Brodsky, mother of Alexander Vasilevsky, the Sisterhood was named after Holy Martyrs Faith, Hope and Love and their mother Sophia

Our feast day is celebrated on September 17 / 30. Each year a Vigil for Holy Martyrs Faith, Hope and Love and their mother Sophia is celebrated on the eve of the feast (September 16 / 29) at which all members of the Sisterhood are very strongly encouraged to partake of the Mystery of Confession. The Divine Liturgy is celebrated on the feast day itself, at which all members of the Sisterhood are again very strongly encouraged to partake of the Mystery of Holy Communion.

The Sisterhood is an active part of the church parish family, conducted by the Rector and the Sisterhood Council.  All woman and young ladies – members of the church – automatically become members of the Sisterhood and, as far as their talents, efforts and ability, work for the glory of God.

Our sisters clean and decorate the temple and the church grounds, buy and take care the vestments, prepare lunches and dinners, bake prosphora and engage in other charitable and fund-raising activities, which help parish financially each year.  The Sisterhood is responsible for the weekly parish meal each Sunday of the year.
